Earthquake in Haiti
On January 12th, a 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit Haiti, leaving the country devastated, socially, economically, and emotionally. This is yet another example of the importance of UBC Red Cross’s 2009-10 appeal for the International Disaster Relief Fund, which lends immediate help to unexpected natural disasters such as the earthquake in Haiti. Please continue to support us as we aid the Red Cross in providing immediate response within hours of any emergency. Due to the urgency in Haiti, a separate donation box is called for, and the money will go separately to the people of Haiti as they face these hard times.
Look for our booth at the SUB on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday (Jan 18th- 20th) for donation by will. Please give generously. Your help can’t wait.
Other ways you can help: Canadians are encouraged to make a financial donation to the Canadian Red Cross Haiti Earthquake fund. Donations can be made online at www.redcross.ca/helpnow , by calling toll free 1-800-418-1111 or at any Red Cross office. Cheques should be earmarked Haiti Earthquake.
