About Us
The UBC Red Cross International Club serves as the liaison between UBC students and the Canadian Red Cross Lower Mainland Office.
We have two main objectives:
- to bring awareness to our campus of global issues, as well as
- to raise money for selective international appeals.
In the past few years, we've been able to raise thousands of dollars for our appeals, which have included the Sudan Crisis, the Southeast Asia Earthquake and Tsunami and the Africa Sahel Food Crisis. Speakers were invited to our numerous events, such as the awareness seminars and the 30-Hour Fast, to give firsthand accounts of their experiences around the world.
In addition to our international focus, we are also involved with the local community, offering volunteer opportunities with the Lower Mainland Canadian Red Cross, Vancouver General Hospital, the UBC Food Bank, and with the Greater Vancouver Food Bank. We also hold several Standard First Aid & CPR-C courses for our members throughout the year. These courses are offered at a discounted rate to our members. Check our events page for the next course date!
We are always looking for more people to get involved with our events and with the executive. If you are interested, you are welcome to contact us at info@ubcredcross.com or visit us during our office hours.
